Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is sometimes mistaken for fibroadenoma due to its tendency to show benign morphology on breast ultrasound (US) albeit its aggressive nature. This study aims to develop a radiomics score based on US texture analysis for differential diagnosis between TNBC and fibroadenoma, and to evaluate its diagnostic performance compared with pathologic results. We retrospectively included 715 pathology-proven fibroadenomas and 186 pathology-proven TNBCs which were examined
Funisitis is present in 4% of women at term and is associated with microbial invasion of the amniotic cavity (MIAC) and inflammation as reflected by increased AF WBC count.
An abrupt increase in AF PG concentrations (25-fold for PGF2a) occurs before the onset of spontaneous labor at term in humans; these observations suggest that PGs increase prior to the onset of labor and contradict the claim that an increase in PG concentrations is the consequence of labor.
AF PGF2a concentrations were determined by ELISA in 140 singleton pregnancies with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PROM) (< or =35 weeks). AF was cultured for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, and genital mycoplasmas. Intra-amniotic inflammation was defined as an elevated AF matrix metalloproteinase-8 concentration (>23 ng/ml). Results. (1) Patients with intra-amniotic inflammation and a negative AF culture had a significantly higher median AF PGF2a than those without intra-amniotic inflam
Oligohydramnios was more frequent in patients with culture-proven AF infection than in those with intra-amniotic inflammation and a negative AF culture.
A high Nugent score (>or=8) for the detection of BV but not a positive vaginal culture for genital mycoplasmas is a risk factor for spontaneous preterm birth.
The mechanisms underlying cervical insufficiency, a cause of spontaneous second-trimester abortion and early preterm birth, remain poorly understood. There is, however, evidence that amniotic fluid (AF) infection is a key factor in pregnancy outcomes and postoperative complications. This study was an attempt to determine the frequency and clinical importance of intraamniotic inflammation in 52 patients with acute cervical insufficiency, defined as cervical dilation of 1.5 cm or more. The patient
BACKGROUND. Screening mammography has decreased performance in patients with dense breasts. Supplementary screening ultrasound is a recommended option in such patients, although it has yielded mixed results in prior investigations. OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this article is to compare the performance characteristics of screening mammography alone, standalone artificial intelligence (AI), ultrasound alone, and mammography in combination with AI and/or ultrasound in patients with dens
The fragmented form of AF IGFBP-1 was significantly increased in AF with intra-amniotic inflammation, and MMPs produced in AF with intra-amniotic inflammation were associated with the proteolytic change of AF IGFBP-1.
A radiomics model based on the US features of primary breast cancers showed additional value when combined with a clinicopathologic model to predict axillary lymph node metastasis.
