Sukchan Lee 교수의 연구실은 식물 바이러스와 숙주 간의 상호작용을 중심으로, 특히 단일가닥 DNA 바이러스인 게미니바이러스의 병원성 메커니즘과 숙주 식물의 저항성 또는 감수성 기전을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 주로 베티 커리 투프 바이러스(BCTV)와 토마토 황엽커름바이러스(TYLCV)를 모델로 하여 바이러스의 복제, 유전자 발현, 이동 및 식물에서의 병징 형성 과정을 분자생물학적·형태학적 분석을 통해 연구하고 있습니다. 또한, 바이러스 감염이 식물의 세포 분열 및 이상 성장조직(예: 콜라스 유사 구조)을 유도하는 메커니즘에 대해서도 깊이 있는 분석을 수행하고 있습니다.
