Our data indicate that daily physical activity evaluated by step counts may be useful for forecasting the prognosis in patients with mild ischemic stroke. Daily step counts of approximately 6000 steps per day may be an initial target level for reducing new vascular events.
In a survey examining the causes of travellers' diarrhoea treated in Tokyo between July 1986 and December 1995, Aeromonas species were isolated from 1265 (5.5%) of 23,215 travellers returning from developing countries. Aeromonas species were the fourth most frequent enteropathogen isolated, following enterotoxigenic E. coli (8.5%), Salmonella spp. (7.6%) and Plesiomonas shigelloides (5.6%). Aeromonas species were found in 1191 (5.6%) of 21,257 patients with diarrhoea and in 74 (3.8%) of 1958 hea
From the investigation regarding the dependence of power loss and electrical resistivity at a temperature at which crystalline anisotropic energy becomes zero, eddy current loss and residual loss could be obtained separately. The increase in residual loss as exciting magnetic flux density, Bm, follows Bm2 at 1 MHz and Bm3–4 at 100 kHz. This result shows that the residual loss arises from spin rotation inside the magnetic domain wall. The domain size was estimated to be in the region of 1–2 μm by
The findings of present study suggest that frailty criteria may serve as a new clinical marker for management of patients with CHF.
The frailty-based prognostic score proposed in this study was well associated with prognosis and will serve for risk stratification in patients with HF.
Given a surface of higher genus, we will look at the Weil-Petersson completion of the Teichmller space of the surface, and will study the geometry induced by the Weil-Petersson distance functional. Although the completion is no longer a Riemannian manifold, it has characteristics similar to those of Cartan-Hadamard manifolds.
FLs as measured by the PMADL-8 and the time course of the PMADL-8 score predict readmission in CHF patients after discharge. Accordingly, FL assessment is recommended as part of the clinical management because it not only identifies decline in physical function but also guides prognosis in CHF patients.
Eight cases of hemolytic-uremic syndrome in which no pathogens were isolated were diagnosed serologically by a passive hemagglutination assay and a verotoxin (VT; Shiga-like toxin) enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The passive hemagglutination assay employed formalinized sheep erythrocytes sensitized with soluble native antigen or heat-treated antigen (lipopolysaccharide [LPS]) from Escherichia coli O26, O111, O128, and O157 or flagellar antigen of nine different H serogroups of E. coli
