The current study examined various types of misinformation related to the COVID-19 vaccines and their relationships to vaccine hesitancy and refusal. Study 1 asked a sample of full-time working professionals in the US (n = 505) about possible misinformation they were exposed to related to the COVID-19 vaccines. Study 2 utilized an online survey to examine U.S. college students' (n = 441) knowledge about COVID-19 vaccines, and its associations with vaccine hesitancy and behavioral intention to ge
This study examined how entry‐level employees interacted with social media during three stages of organizational socialization. Given the important implications of social support on managing volunteers and their organizational commitment, we investigated how members of a Korean immigrant church ( N = 178) exchanged two distinctive kinds of social support (i.e., informational and tangible). We used theories of centrality and homophily to hypothesize patterns of social connections among organizational members. Employing exponential random graph modeling (ERGM), the current study estimated the likelihood of age and gender h
A hierarchical regression analysis of U.S.-based Korean immigrants ' mobile communication use (i.e., voice calling and texting) and their social network characteristics (i.e., network size, diversity, and centrality) revealed significant associations between texting with coethnic strong ties and network centrality within the ethnic community. Korean immigrants who texted frequently with both coethnic and host weak ties had larger networks. Network diversity was, however, associated only with voi
A theoretical model of trust in human-machine communication (HMC) was tested and emotional experience and social presence were evaluated during an interaction with an intelligent virtual agent (IVA), Siri. A two (‘American female’ or ‘American male’ Siri) by two (functional or social task) experiment was conducted with 229 subjects with random assignments. According to multivariate analyses of covariances, participants reported higher levels of emotional significance when they interacted with Si

The mobile phone appropriation (MPA) scale, originally developed in German, was translated into and adapted to English and initially validated through a confirmatory factory analysis (CFA) in this study. First, the theoretical background of the MPA model is briefly introduced, followed by explanations regarding the process of translating the original German scale into English (and its back-translation). English data CFA results are discussed in comparison with the CFA results from the most recen
