Chronic compression or ischemia of the spinal cord in the cervical spine causes a clinical syndrome known as cervical myelopathy. Recently, a new term "degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM)" was introduced. DCM encompasses spondylosis, intervertebral disk herniation, facet arthrosis, ligamentous hypertrophy, calcification, and ossification. The pathophysiology of DCM includes structural and functional abnormalities of the spinal cord caused by static and dynamic factors. In nonoperative patient
The 5-year incidence of OVCF per 100,000 persons was 852.24 cases, and 45% of OVCF in South Korea occurred in patients in their seventies. The bone cement augmentation rate and total cost of OVCF are continuously increasing.

In a Korean population, the normal cervical disc height was about 5.0 mm and the normal facet joint space was 1.4 mm. Disc height ratio can reliably identify normal cervical disc height in patients with mild degeneration. Patient height was positively correlated with disc height and facet joint space. Thus, when selecting a cervical implant, surgeons should consider patient height as well as estimated normal disc height.

This case series investigated the efficacy and optimal dose of Escherichia coli-derived bone morphogenetic protein-2 (E.BMP-2) as a bone graft substitute for additional posterolateral spinal fusion, accompanying interbody fusion procedures, for treating lumbar degenerative spinal stenosis. This study focused on the optimal dose for each segment and the efficacy of E.BMP-2 as a substitute for autogenous iliac bone graft.Ten patients were enrolled from January 2015 to December 2015, and underwent
The Bosworth ankle fracture-dislocation is a rare injury and is often irreducible because of an entrapped proximal fragment of the fibula behind the posterior tibial tubercle. Repeated closed reduction or delayed open reduction may result in several complications. Thus, early open reduction and internal fixation enable a better outcome by minimizing soft-tissue damage. We report on a 27-year-old man who underwent open reduction and internal fixation after multiple attempts at failed closed reduc
Study DesignRetrospective observational study.ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of body mass index (BMI), age, and sex on the occurrence of hip and vertebral fractures in the South Korean population.MethodsWe enrolled participants who underwent routine health screenings conducted by the Korean National Health Insurance Service in 2009 and followed up from 2010 to 2018. Cox proportional analyses assessed the hazard ratios for hip and vertebral fractures compared to individuals with a normal BMI
