This meta-analysis demonstrates that the PTPN22 1858T allele confers susceptibility to RA, SLE, GD, T1D and JIA, supporting evidence of association of the PTPN22 gene with subgroup of autoimmune diseases.
Consensus agreement was achieved for the labels and definitions of 11 elements representing the fundamental components of gout etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation. The Gout, Hyperuricemia, and Crystal-Associated Disease Network recommends the use of these labels when describing the basic disease elements of gout.
The prevalence of knee OA was lower in participants with MHT than in those without MHT.
We attribute our findings to the effects of progestogen, rather than estrogen.
OA is associated with impaired mental health. OA patients had high stress perception, depression and suicidal ideation. More numbers of male with OA had much more mental disorders than female with OA.
A solution containing synthetic liposomes was injected into rabbit knee joints. This induced light and electron microscopic findings very similar to those seen in acute or chronic arthritis, not attributable to any mechanism other than to spherulites, in humans. Synovial fluid studies revealed leukocytosis and abundant extracellular, and/or intracellular positively birefringent spherulites, which appeared as Maltese crosses. Histologic studies of synovial membranes showed infiltration with polym
In Korea, the prevalence of COPD was high in patients with RA of both sexes; RA and COPD was significantly likely to be associated in men, but not in women.
INTRODUCTION: In juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) are associated with development and progression of JIA. We investigated whether IL-1, IL-6, and TNF-α polymorphisms were associated with susceptibility to JIA.EVIDENCE ACQUISITION: A meta-analysis was conducted on the associations between IL-1α-899 C/T, IL-1β-511 C/T, IL-6-174 G/C, and TNF-α-308 G/A and -238 G/A polymorphisms, and JIA (PubMed and Embase).EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS: A t
