Esophageal cancer is a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Complete resection of esophageal cancer and adjacent malignant lymph nodes is the only potentially curative treatment. Accurate preoperative staging and assessment of therapeutic response after neoadjuvant therapy are crucial in determining the most suitable therapy and avoiding inappropriate attempts at curative surgery. Computed tomography (CT) is recommended for initial imaging following confirmation of malignancy at patholog
Time-related BP variability in the first 24 hours following successful ERT was more correlated with sICH than other absolute BP levels. This suggests that maintaining a stable BP may be an important factor in preventing sICH after successful ERT. Ann Neurol 2019;85:574-581.
A variety of surgical procedures are used in the treatment of esophageal cancer. These procedures include transthoracic esophagectomy (Ivor Lewis procedure, McKeown procedure, left thoracoabdominal approach), transhiatal esophagectomy, and various forms of bypass surgery. Although meticulous surgical techniques and improved postoperative care have markedly reduced the complications associated with these techniques, esophageal resection is still associated with various intraoperative complication
We present room-temperature pseudodielectric function spectra $〈\ensuremath{\varepsilon}〉=〈{\ensuremath{\varepsilon}}_{1}〉+i〈{\ensuremath{\varepsilon}}_{2}〉$ of ${\mathrm{In}}_{x}{\mathrm{Ga}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}\mathrm{As}$ films grown on (100) InP by solid-source molecular-beam epitaxy. A wet-chemical etching procedure was used to remove overlayers and obtain the best approximation to the bulk dielectric responses $\ensuremath{\varepsilon}={\ensuremath{\varepsilon}}_{1}+i{\ensuremath{\varepsilo
This study demonstrated that cystatin C concentrations in elderly patients without chronic kidney disease were associated with early neurological deterioration following acute stroke. This suggests that cystatin C level could be a useful predictor for early neurological deterioration following acute stroke.
The dielectric function [Formula: see text] of monolayer molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2) is obtained and analyzed at temperatures from 31 to 300 K and at energies from 0.74 to 6.42 eV. The sample is a large-area, partially discontinuous monolayer (submonolayer) film of MoSe2 grown on a sapphire substrate by selenization of pulsed laser deposited MoO3 film. Morphological and optical characterizations verified the excellent quality of the film. The MoSe2 d
We report dielectric function data from 0.74 to 6.54 eV for InAs at 22 K, obtained by spectroscopic ellipsometry. Critical-point (CP) structures are blueshifted and significantly sharpened relative to those seen at room-temperature (RT). The E0′, E2Δ, E2, E0′+Δ0′, and E2′ features in the E2 energy range of 4.0 to 5.6 eV cannot be resolved at RT but are clearly separated at 22 K. The energies of the CPs giving rise to these structures are determined by line shape fitting to numerically calculated
Nocturnal desaturation was more frequently observed in patients admitted with WUS during the first night in the stroke unit. This suggests that nocturnal desaturation is a possible modifiable risk factor for the occurrence of WUS.
Marked protein catabolism is common in critically ill patients. We hypothesized that optimal protein supplementation using nitrogen balance might be associated with better outcomes in the neurointensive care unit (NICU) patients. A total of 175 patients admitted to the NICU between July 2017 and December 2018 were included. Nitrogen balance was measured after NICU admission and measurements were repeated in 77 patients. The outcomes were compared according to initial nitrogen balance results and
We report the complex dielectric function of InSb for temperatures from 31 to 675 K and energies from 0.74 to 6.42 eV. The spectra were obtained by rotating-compensator spectroscopic ellipsometry on bulk InSb. The critical point (CP) energies were determined using numerically calculated second energy derivatives of the data. At low temperature, the CP structures are blue-shifted and significantly sharpened relative to those seen at high temperature. The temperature dependence of the E1, E1+Δ1, E
We could establish big data on stroke by linking CRCS registry and HIRA records, using claims data without personal identifiers. We plan to conduct national stroke research and improve stroke care using the linked big database.
Our study suggested that long sleep duration is positively associated with an increased ICH risk in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies on the relationship linking long sleep duration with increased risk of ICH are required.
