Biogenic synthesis of silver (AgNPs) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using aqueous extract of Euphrasia officinalis has been reported. Stable AgNPs and AuNPs were formed on adding aqueous solutions of silver nitrate and chloroauric acid with E. officinalis leaf extract, in 19 min and 2 min, respectively. The synthesis method used in present study was simple, reliable, rapid, cost effective and ecofriendly. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized with field emission transmission electron
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are known to have bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects. The present study highlights the extracellular synthesis of AgNPs and its antibacterial properties. The AgNPs were synthesized using Pseudomonas sp. THG-LS1.4 strain which had been isolated from soil. The AgNPs were characterized by field emission-transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and particle size distribution (DLS). Th
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is the primary factor in skin photoaging, which is characterized by wrinkle formation, dryness, and thickening. The mechanisms underlying skin photoaging are closely associated with degradation of collagen via upregulation of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity, which is induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Gallic acid (GA), a phenolic compound, possesses a variety of biological activities including antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities. We in
Human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells-conditioned medium (ADSC-CM) contains cytokines and growth factors that can facilitate the regeneration and repair of various tissues and organs. In the present study, the protective activity of ADSC-CM treatment was investigated in UVB-irradiated human keratinocyte cell line HaCaTs and normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs). It was found that ADSC-CM can modulate the expression of the signaling molecules in the early UVB responsive signaling pathway
This study highlights the facile, reliable, cost effective, and ecofriendly synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Borago officinalis leaves extract efficiently. The biosynthesis of AgNPs was verified by UV-Vis spectrum which showed the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 422 nm. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis revealed that the particles were spherical, hexagonal, and irregular in shape and had size ranging from 30 to 80 nm. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy
These results suggest that GC can prevent aging by inhibiting wrinkle formation and increasing moisture in the human skin.
Prunella vulgaris L., a well-known traditional Chinese herbal medicine, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. In the present study, the underlying molecular mechanisms of the protective effect of P. vulgaris extract (PVE) were investigated in UVB-irradiated normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs). The mRNA expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), procollagen type I, and cytokines, such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), was determined by reverse transcr
Solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation-induced reactive oxidative species is mainly responsible for the development of photoageing. Rosmarinic acid was one of the main bioactive components detected in Thymus vulgaris (TV) we extracted. In this study, UVB-induced skin damages have been shown to be ameliorated by treatment with TV in hairless mice (HR-1) skin, demonstrated by decreased matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and increased collagen production. However, the underlying molecular mechanism on whic
The present study described biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using a bacterial strain Novosphingobium sp. THG-C3, isolated from soil, and their application in antibacterial activity. The maximum absorbance values of the synthesized AgNPs was measured at 406 nm in ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry and were mostly spherical in shape with particle size in range of 8-25 nm by field emission transmission electron microscopy analysis. X-ray diffraction pattern corresponding to planes (
Silver nanoparticles were prepared through green route with the aid of Aeromonas sp. THG-FG1.2 as reductant. Visual observation, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, elemental mapping, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, selected area diffraction pattern (SAED), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the synthesized silver nanoparticles. UV visible studies indicated the surface plasmon resonance at 400 nm which depicts the formation of silver nanop
