The Internet of Things (IoT) allows collecting vast amounts of health-relevant data such as daily activity, body weight (BW), and blood pressure (BP) automatically. The use of IoT devices to monitor diabetic patients has been studied, but could not evaluate IoT-dependent effects because health data were not measured in control groups. This multicenter, open-label, randomized, parallel group study will compare the impact of intensive health guidance using IoT and conventional medical guidance on
Type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia are diseases that collectively increase the risk of patients developing cardiovascular complications. Several incretin-based drugs are reported to improve lipid metabolism, and one of these medications, anagliptin, is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that has been shown to decrease serum triglyceride and low-density lipoproteins cholesterol. This study aimed to conduct an investigation into the effects of anagliptin on serum lipid profiles. This multice
Venetoclax is a promising drug for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) ineligible for anthracycline-based treatments. In rats, venetoclax is reported to cause myocardial injury. Our objectives were to report the frequency of cardiovascular (CV) events in patients treated with venetoclax, and, subsequently, to compare CV outcomes in matched patients treated with venetoclax or anthracyclines. Patients diagnosed with AML and treated with venetoclax or anthracyclines from January 2017 to July
Genetic factors, personality and environmental factors contribute to the onset of major depression in a classic model. Since the 1980s, several retrospective studies have reported that childhood stress or trauma experiences occur more often in major depressive patients than in healthy controls. However, retrospective studies have a limitation: there is the possibility that depressed individuals may evidence an increased likelihood to recall negative events from their past. In 2003, Caspi et al.
In response to the growing expectation and recognized potential for integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into medicine, the Model Core Curriculum for Medical Education in Japan incorporated 'the ability to use information science and technology' as a new competency in its 2022 revision. This study aimed to identify specific learning objectives that medical students should achieve to acquire this competency. The research team developed an initial list of 107 learning objecti
