The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utility of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with echo-planar imaging (EPI) technique in depicting the tumor cellularity and grading of gliomas. Twenty consecutive patients (13 men and 7 women, ranging in age from 13 to 69 years) with histologically proven gliomas were examined using a 1.5 T superconducting imager. Tumor cellularity, analyzed with National Institutes of Health Image 1.60 software on a Macintosh computer, was compare
The results of perfusion-sensitive MR imaging with gradient-echo echoplanar technique correlated with both histologic and angiographic vascularities.
An enhancing lesion with a normalized rCBV ratio higher than 2.6 or lower than 0.6 may suggest tumor recurrence or nonneoplastic contrast-enhancing tissue, respectively. In these cases, further examination with 201Tl-SPECT may not be necessary. However, when the normalized rCBV ratio is between 0.6 and 2.6, 201Tl-SPECT may be useful in making the differentiation.
Hydrogen hydrates with tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a promoter molecule are investigated to probe critical unresolved observations regarding cage occupancy and storage capacity. We adopted a new preparation method, mixing solid powdered THF with ice and pressurizing with hydrogen at 70 MPa and 255 +/- 2 K (these formation conditions are insufficient to form pure hydrogen hydrates). All results from Raman microprobe spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and gas volumetric analysis show a strong dep
Three-dimensional DSA, especially SSD, provided more detailed information for evaluating cerebral aneurysms than did standard 2D and rotational DSA.
The GE-EPI technique seems more useful for detecting low- versus high-grade gliomas than the SE-EPI technique.
Balancing the formation and storage pressure with the storage capacity is one of the most significant steps toward developing H2 storage in hydrates. The large-cage occupancies of hydrogen molecules in tetrahydrofuran (THF), acetone, cyclohexanone (CHONE), and methylcyclohexane (MCH) hydrates were investigated by Raman spectroscopy, volumetric gas release measurement, and X-ray diffraction analysis in a pressure region below the equilibrium pressure of pure H2 hydrates at 255 ± 2 K. The results
Cerebral lymphomas had a tendency to have low rCBV values. This information may be helpful in diagnosing these tumors.
The degree of tumor malignancy generally correlates to tumor grade, and the direct measurement of tumor vasculature is desired. Dynamic susceptibility contrast magnetic resonance imaging can provide relative cerebral blood volume and, therefore, is one of the most reliable methods to evaluate tumor vasculature in vivo. Tumor vessel size is extremely variable due to complex tumor angiogenesis, and the gradient-echo echo-planar imaging (GE-EPI) technique, which is sensitive to the total vascular b
