Tetsuro Ago 교수의 연구실은 산화 스트레스와 관련된 NADPH 옥시다제(Nox) 계열 단백질, 특히 Nox4와 Nox1의 기능과 조절 메커니즘을 중심으로 심장 및 혈관 질환의 발달 기전을 규명하고 있습니다. 특히, 심장비대, 심부전, 심근경색 후 조직 재생 등에서 산화적 손상과 세포 사멸이 어떻게 유도되는지에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, mitochondrial 기능 이상과 산화적 변형이 핵심 메커니즘으로 작용함을 밝혀내고 있습니다. 또한, p47(phox) 단백질의 인산화와 인지질 상호작용을 통한 활성화 메커니즘 등 신호 전달의 분자 기전을 규명하고 있습니다.
