Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography showed that the integrity of the external limiting membrane and inner and outer segments of the photoreceptors was more strongly correlated with best-corrected visual acuity when compared with central subfield thickness in diabetic macular edema.
Positioning the measurement beam perpendicular to HFL enhanced visualization performance.
A 40-Gb/s optical retiming, reshaping, and retransmitting (3R) regenerator was proposed and demonstrated using wavelength converters based on electroabsorption (EA) modulators for effectively implementing 40-Gb/s-based or higher bit rate wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks. The proposed optical 3R regenerator is configured in a very simple architecture, consisting of two wavelength converters, a clock recovery section, and an optical clock generator section. Furthermore, the
Distant retinal vascular leakage causes serous retinal detachment in the macula. The macula is predisposed to collect subretinal fluid although retinal vascular leakage is far from the macula.
The optical 3R regenerator using electroabsorption modulators was evaluated at 10 Gbit/s in terms of the all-optical network application. Its reset of impairments induced by the fiber transmission was confirmed by carrying out the multiple recirculating loop experiment. The experimental result shows that the transmission distance could be extended by almost 1.5 times compared to the case when it was not used, inserting the optical regenerator between the two recirculating loops.
The cascadability of passband-flattened arrayed waveguide-grating (AWG) filters is studied using experimental and theoretical transfer functions. The formalism is general and can be used to cascade any type of filter at any channel spacing. For example, modeling indicates that transmission through 100 such AWG (de)multiplexers at 200-GHz channel spacing, assuming 10-Gb/s data streams introduces distortion-induced penalties below the widely acceptable 0.3-dB limit, provided that certain filter de
This letter describes fault localization in the optical wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) submarine cable networks by coherent-optical time domain reflectometry (C-OTDR). Using the bidirectional system designed for WDM signal transmission and a wavelength add/drop branching unit [add/drop branching unit (BU)] circuit, the trunk path, the branch path and the add/drop BU circuit were successfully surveyed by C-OTDR with wavelength tunability. It is very effective to conduct fault localization
