Tong Ho Kang 교수의 연구실은 신경퇴행성질환과 대사질환의 신경학적 기전을 규명하고, 천연물에서 유래한 생활화학적 물질을 활용한 신약 개발에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 당뇨병성 신경병변, 알츠하이머 및 파킨슨병과 같은 신경질환에서 신경생장 인자 및 GABA의 기능 회복을 위한 천연물의 약리적 작용을 연구하고 있으며, 생리활성 성분을 최적화한 가공 기술(예: 증기 처리)을 통해 기능성을 향상시키는 데도 기여하고 있습니다. 또한, 당뇨, 비만, 위궤양 등 대사 및 소화기계 질환에 대한 천연물 기반 치료 전략을 실험모델 기반으로 검증하고 있습니다.
