Abstract Background Forests are an essential natural resource to humankind, providing a myriad of direct and indirect benefits. Natural disasters like forest fires have a major impact on global warming and the continued existence of life on Earth. Automatic identification of forest fires is thus an important field to research in order to minimize disasters. Early fire detection can also help decision-makers plan mitigation methods and extinguishing tactics. This research looks at fire/smoke dete
This research paper presents a rule-based regression predictive model for bike sharing demand prediction. In recent days, Pubic rental bike sharing is becoming popular because of is increased comfortableness and environmental sustainability. Data used include Seoul Bike and Capital Bikeshare program data. Both data have weather data associated with it for each hour. For both the dataset, five statistical models were trained with optimized hyperparameters using a repeated cross validation approac
The fast development of urban advancement in the past decade requires reasonable and realistic solutions for transport, building infrastructure, natural conditions, and personal satisfaction in smart cities. This paper presents and explores predictive energy consumption models based on data-mining techniques for a smart small-scale steel industry in South Korea. Energy consumption data is collected using IoT based systems and used for prediction. Data used include the lagging and leading current
Sentiment analysis is a process in Natural Language Processing that involves detecting and classifying emotions in texts. The emotion is focused on a specific thing, an object, an incident, or an individual. Although some tasks are concerned with detecting the existence of emotion in text, others are concerned with finding the polarities of the text, which is classified as positive, negative, or neutral. The task of determining whether a comment contains inappropriate text that affects either in
One of the world's most widely grown crops is corn. Crop loss due to diseases has a major economic effect, putting the food supply in jeopardy. In many parts of the world, lack of infrastructure still slows disease diagnosis. In this context, effective detection of corn leaf diseases is necessary to limit any unfavorable impacts on the yield. This research has been carried out on the corn leaf images, having three classes of diseases and one healthy class, collected from web resources by using t
Trip duration is the most fundamental measure in all modes of transportation. Hence, it is crucial to predict the trip‐time precisely for the advancement of Intelligent Transport Systems and traveller information systems. To predict the trip duration, data mining techniques are employed in this study to predict the trip duration of rental bikes in Seoul Bike sharing system. The prediction is carried out with the combination of Seoul Bike data and weather data. The data used include trip duration
Abstract Rental bike sharing is an urban mobility model that is affordable and ecofriendly. The public bike sharing model is widely used in several cities across the world over the past decade. Because bike use is rising constantly, understanding the system demand in prediction is important to boost the operating system readiness. This article presents a prediction model to meet user demands and efficient operations for rental bikes using Random Forest (RF), which is a homogeneous ensemble metho
An abnormal growth of cells in the brain, often known as a brain tumor, has the potential to develop into cancer. Carcinogenesis of glial cells in the brain and spinal cord is the root cause of gliomas, which are the most prevalent type of primary brain tumor. After receiving a diagnosis of glioblastoma, it is anticipated that the average patient will have a survival time of less than 14 months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a well-known non-invasive imaging technology that can detect brai
Cracks that are detected in concrete structures represent significant damage, and they can lead to a detrimental effect on the structure’s durability. Their identification in a timely manner can help ensure structural safety and guide in‐depth maintenance operation. Automatic detection of such cracks has been proposed using internal crack detection utilizing ultrasonic sensors in concrete. Cracks within the concrete can be detected using ultrasonic sensors. In this investigation, we introduced a
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in interest in using digital resources to contain pandemics. To avoid, detect, monitor, regulate, track, and manage diseases, predict outbreaks and conduct data analysis and decision-making processes, a variety of digital technologies are used, ranging from artificial intelligence (AI)-powered machine learning (ML) or deep learning (DL) focused applications to blockchain technology and big data analytics enabled by cloud computing and t
Removing hazardous substances like azo dyes and nitrophenols from drinking water is essential for maintaining human health since these substances occur naturally in the environment. This research study used machine learning techniques to estimate the catalytic reduction performance of environmentally hazardous nitrophenols and azodyes pollutants. The catalyst PdO-NiO was used to eliminate contaminants in the water, including 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP), 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TN
The human finger nails have a high degree of distinctiveness, even in the case of identical twins or even between different finger nails of an individual. This is used as a key to develop a new biometric authentication system using a single nail plate. The nail authentication system developed is based on the high individuality of the dermal structure underneath the fingernail plate, known as nail bed. Because of inconsistent properties of growing nail plate the nail bed alone is considered. Sema
Deep learning-based medical image analysis is an effective and precise method for identifying various cancer types. However, due to concerns over patient privacy, sharing diagnostic images across medical facilities is typically not permitted. Federated learning (FL) tries to construct a shared model across dispersed clients under such privacy-preserving constraints. Although there is a good chance of success, dealing with non-IID (non-independent and identical distribution) client data, which is
