Testicular cancer (TCa) has a relatively rare incidence and mortality, but has not been thoroughly evaluated. We analyzed global variations and recent trends in TCa incidence and mortality.Age-standardized rates (ASRs) of TCa incidence and mortality were retrieved from the GLOBOCAN 2012 database. Temporal patterns were assessed using data obtained from the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents (volumes I-X) and World Health Organization Mortality databases. The incidence and mortality trends over
Our results suggest that RP may be performed safely on patients with locally advanced PC.
PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of red ginseng extract powder (OKBT) for treating erectile dysfunction. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixty-nine adult patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction of various etiologies were randomized to receive placebo or red ginseng extract powder. The red ginseng extract powder used in the present study was named OKBT. The primary efficacy parameter was response to the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) erectile function domain at bas
Simultaneous transurethral bladder tumor and prostate resection may help decrease bladder cancer recurrence and delay time to recurrence without the risk of cancer implantation when transurethral prostate resection is done, especially in patients with a papillary, solitary-appearing bladder lesion less than 3 cm.
Some early-stage clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs) of ≤7 cm are associated with a poor clinical outcome. In this study, we investigated molecular biomarkers associated with aggressive clinical T1 stage ccRCCs of ≤7 cm, which were used to develop a risk prediction tool toward guiding the decision of treatment. Among 1069 nephrectomies performed for ccRCC of ≤7 cm conducted between January 2008 and December 2014, 177 cases with available formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue were evaluat
The molecular characteristics of early-stage clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs) measuring ≤7 cm associated with poor clinical outcomes remain poorly understood. Here, we sought to validate genes associated with ccRCC progression and identify candidate genes to predict ccRCC aggressiveness. From among 1069 nephrectomies performed on patients, RNA sequencing was performed for 12 ccRCC patients with aggressive characteristics and matched pairs of 12 ccRCC patients without aggressive characte
PTEN inactivation and neuroendocrine differentiation were related to refractoriness to bicalutamide therapy. These results support the hypothesis that neuroendocrine differentiation is caused by activation of the serine threonine kinase Akt pathway, which results from PTEN inactivation.
Single session OK-432 sclerotherapy is simpler, safer and more effective than multiple session 99% ethanol sclerotherapy for the treatment of simple renal cysts, especially large cysts.
Renal tumours of ≤7 cm with presumed renal sinus fat invasion were mostly pT1. PN conferred equivalent oncological outcomes to RN. If clear surgical margins can be obtained, PN should be considered for these tumours, as patients may benefit from renal function preservation.
Muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) and non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) are both major causes of morbidity and mortality. At diagnosis, MIBC is more likely to metastasize, but can often be treated with aggressive care. Standard treatment for MIBC patients is radical cystectomy but a select group of these individuals are not candidates for or will decline this treatment. Thus, bladder preservation therapy followed by combined chemoradiation may be considered. Despite the primary surg
Increased nephron volume can be discounted as a cause of supranormal DRF.
