PWV had an independent association with CMB in patients with stroke. These findings suggest that arterial stiffness may be pathophysiologically associated with CMB.
Background Although antiplatelet agents are frequently prescribed in moyamoya disease in routine clinical practice, there are no large-scale epidemiologic trials or randomized trial evidence to support their use in patients with moyamoya disease. Methods and Results Using the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, patients diagnosed with moyamoya disease between 2002 and 2016 were followed up for up to 14 years to assess, using time-dependent Cox regression in all patients and in a p
Careful concern about coronary artery disease is needed when treating ischemic stroke patients who have atherosclerosis of the extracranial carotid artery.
Many challenges must be overcome before mobile apps can be used for patients with stroke. Nevertheless, the app tested in this study induced a shift in the risk profiles in a favorable direction among the included stroke patients.
Facial movement feature extraction on facial images based on iris segmentation and LAC-based key point detection along with a hybrid classifier provides a more efficient way of addressing classification problem on facial palsy type and degree of severity. Combining iris segmentation and key point-based method has several merits that are essential for our real application. Aside from the facial key points, iris segmentation provides significant contribution as it describes the changes of the iris
Objective- Stroke is a heterogeneous disease with diverse causes, which affect the risk of recurrence. This study aimed to identify novel biomarkers that are clinically relevant to the diagnosis of cardioembolic stroke (CE) and the prediction of stroke recurrence using metabolomics. Approach and Results- We obtained blood samples and clinical data from a consecutively registered, hospital-based acute stroke registry and from healthy controls. Mass-spectrometry-based profiling was performed, and
Slower SIP is associated with a high collateral score, prior ischemic stroke, and coronary artery disease, supporting roles for both collateral robustness and ischemic preconditioning in fostering tissue resilience to ischemia. Among patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy, the speed of infarct progression is a major determinant of clinical outcome.
FFA may be a potential biomarker that predicts outcome events in stroke with A-fib along with the CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scoring systems.
Here we report a significant association between fasting FFA concentration and the cardioembolic stroke subtype. AF is suggested as the mediating factor between FFA and the cardioembolic stroke subtype.
In this meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials, the stroke risk monotonically reduced with lowering of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol to very low levels.
The use of high-resolution vessel wall imaging after successful recanalization can provide information about postrecanalization arterial wall changes and clinical outcomes.
