Abstract To address the difficulties related to acquiring Japanese compound verbs, which lack the clarity of verb combinations and the opacity of compound verb meanings, we designed and developed an augmented reality (AR) learning system based on image schema and AR animations. We investigated the effects of the AR-based language learning system developed in this study on the learning performance and cognitive load of an AR learning system and paper-based image schema materials. This study also
Abstract Background Augmented reality has been widely applied in various fields, and its benefits in language learning have been increasingly recognized. However, the investigation of effective learning behaviours and processes in augmented reality learning environments, taking into account temporality and analysis of differences in learning behaviours between learning achievements from the perspective of learning strategies, is still a topic that requires further research. Objectives The goal o
Advances in mobile technology are providing new opportunities for mobile learning. Augmented reality (AR) technologies may be used on mobile devices and have the potential to facilitate improvements in learning performance. Meanwhile, the amount of data available about learners and their learning activities is rapidly increasing. Using learning analytics allows the collection of learning data to effectively analyze learning behaviors and processes. In this study, we designed and developed an AR
Previous research has established that motivation has a positive impact on the learning processes and behaviors [1] [2]. Learning analytics (LA) can play an important role in addressing the issue of collecting learning behaviors. In this study, we observed the teaching activities of three classes and examined the relationships among learning motivation, learning performance, and learning behaviors of students in digital learning material readers.
Recently, the number of learners of Japanese as a foreign language (JFL) has been increasing. In Japanese languageacquisition, compound verbs (verbs that are composed of two verbs, e.g., tobikomu jump into) are frequently used indaily life;
In recent years, several studies have provided evidence for the positive impact of augmented reality in language acquisition.In particular, augmented reality as a multimedia learning environment has been found to be potentially more effective
Traditional textbooks are progressively being replaced by e-book systems, which are also being utilized more commonly in K–12 education. The study investigated learning behavioral patterns in a seven-week high school mathematics course using an e-book system. In this study, learning data from the BookRoll system was analyzed with lag sequential analysis to examine learning behavioral patterns, learning strategies, and the differences between students with different performances. The results of t
With the deepening of the autonomous learning research,the autonomous learning theory has produced great impact on the college English learning and teaching.The paper first illustrates the advantages of web-based college English autonomous learning and then further analyzes the problems the college students encounter in the course of web-based English autonomous learning.Finally,the paper puts forward some corresponding solutions in the hope of providing some implications for better carrying out
Augmented reality (AR) is shifting language learning to more authentic and interactive. However, the complex and multitasking nature of AR creates challenges for learners in monitoring their progress. While Learning Analytics Dashboards (LADs) support assessment, they rarely address learning strategies in AR environments. This study first identified effective AR language learning strategies using combined Lag Sequential Analysis and Ordered Network Analysis, then developed a LAD with integrated
The development of information and communication technologies has created limitless prospects for using augmented reality (AR) in various fields. Unfortunately, the multitasking nature of AR systems prevents learners from successfully reflecting and retaining knowledge. This study developed and designed a learning analytics dashboard (LAD) with three components: personal learning data, social comparison, and visualization of the learning process, to promote knowledge acquisition and metacognitiv
This study investigated the types of intrinsic motivation of learners in augmented reality (AR) learning activities by cluster analysis. We explored the differences in technology acceptance, learning performance, and behavior among learners with different intrinsic motivation types using ANOVA and post hoc tests. The results revealed that there were three different types of intrinsically motivated learners: high intrinsically motivated learners, learners with high interest only, and learners wit
This study investigated teacher-facing Learning Analytics Dashboard (LAD) effectiveness by examining interaction processes and their impact on student learning behaviors and outcomes. A case study was conducted with one teacher and 17 high school
