이 교수의 연구실은 자연물에서 유래한 천연물질을 활용한 나노소재 개발과 그 응용에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 특히, 한국 전통 약용 식물인 단풍나무와 인삼에서 추출한 성분을 이용해 silver 및 gold 나노입자를 합성하고, 이들 나노소재의 생물학적 안정성과 기능성을 규명하고 있습니다. 또한, 암 선별 제도의 정책적 효과 분석과 생활습관이 건강에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구도 병행하고 있어, 예방의학과 나노의학의 융합 연구를 선도하고 있습니다.
