이 교수의 연구실은 단백질 공급원으로서의 유용성과 사육 용이성으로 주목받는 식용 곤충, 특히 밀벌벌레(larvae of *Tenebrio molitor*)의 활용과 함께, 가축(닭, 돼지 등)의 영양과 생산성 향상을 위한 최적의 사료 제조 기술을 연구하고 있습니다. 특히 에너지와 단백질 수준 조절, 라이소포스파티드리프로필리드(LPL) 등 기능성 사료 첨가물의 영향을 분석하여 생산성 향상과 건강 유지에 기여하는 사료 전략을 개발하고 있습니다. 또한 weaning 단계에서의 사료 전환 문제를 해결하기 위한 착유 사료 및 당밀비트 펄프 등 대체 원료의 적용도 함께 연구하고 있습니다.
