요시히코 토모후지 교수의 연구실은 장내 미생물군, 바이로믹스, 그리고 개인 유전 정보와의 상호작용을 중심으로 한 인체 미생물군집의 기능적 기전을 규명하고 있습니다. 특히 일본인을 대상으로 한 메타게놈 분석을 통해 인구 특이적 미생물 유전자집합(JMAG)과 바이러스 기반 데이터베이스(JVD)를 구축하며, 전통 식습관과의 연관성을 규명하고 있습니다. 또한 자가면역질환, 당뇨병 등 만성질환과 장내 미생물 및 대사물질의 연관성에 대한 메타볼로믹스 기반 연구도 진행하고 있습니다. 유전적 정보의 유출 위험성에 대한 윤리적 고려도 함께 다루며, 데이터 기반 의학과 개인 맞춤형 건강 관리의 기반을 마련하고자 합니다.

Our data suggest that the gut virome can affect our body either directly or via bacteria. Our analyses have elucidated a previously missing part of the autoimmunity-associated gut microbiome and presented new candidates that contribute to the development of autoimmune diseases.
