요시노부 후다모토 교수의 연구실은 원시 은하의 먼지 및 가스 환경을 고감도 밀리미터/서브밀리미터 파장에서 관측함으로써, 초기 우주의 별 형성과 은하 진화를 이해하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 주로 ALMA를 활용해 고레드시프트 은하의 적외선 스펙트럼 에너지분포, 먼지 투과도, [CII] 선과 연의 크기 분포를 분석하며, 특히 별 형성 활동과 먼지의 상호작용을 정량적으로 규명하고자 합니다. 이는 은하의 질량 함수, 적외선 과잉, UV 스펙트럼 기울기 등과 연계된 종합적 진화 모델링을 가능하게 합니다.

We present dust attenuation properties of spectroscopically confirmed star forming galaxies on the main sequence at a redshift of ∼4.4 − 5.8. Our analyses are based on the far infrared continuum observations of 118 galaxies at rest-frame 158 μ m obtained with the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) Large Program to INvestigate [CII] at Early times (ALPINE). We study the connection between the ultraviolet (UV) spectral slope ( β ), stellar mass ( M ⋆ ), and infrared excess (IRX = L IR / L UV ).
ABSTRACT The infrared (IR) spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of main-sequence galaxies in the early Universe (z > 4) is currently unconstrained as IR continuum observations are time-consuming and not feasible for large samples. We present 1.3- and/or 3-mm continuum images and 3-mm spectral scans, obtained using NOEMA and ALMA, of 21 distant, dusty, star-forming galaxies (DSFGs). Our sample is a subset of the galaxies selected by Ivison et al. (2016) on the basis of their extremely red far-infrared (far-IR) colours and low Herschel flux densities; most are thus expected to be unlensed, extraordinarily luminous starbursts at z ≳ 4, modulo the considerable cross-section to gravitational lensing implied by their redshift.
