타카쿠라 교수의 연구실은 약물 전달 체계, 특히 막역성(lymphotropic) 및 유전자 전달 기반의 고분자 기반 약물 설계에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 고분자 프로약(예: 덱스트란 기반 미토마이신 C 유도체)을 이용한 근육내 투여 시 약물의 지속적 방출과 림프계 전달 메커니즘을 규명하며, 나노입자나 고분자 기반 시스템을 활용한 정밀한 약물 전달 기술을 개발하고 있습니다. 또한 유전자 전달의 메커니즘을 해명하기 위해 수축성 세포막을 통한 DNA의 세포질 직접 유입을 연구하며, 생체 내 약물 운반의 효율성 향상에 기여하고 있습니다.

Absorption and lymphatic transfer of a polymeric prodrug of mitomycin C (MMC), mitomycin C-dextran conjugate (MMC-D), following i.m. injection were studied in rats in order to assess the feasibility of a macromolecular prodrug as a lymphotropic delivery system.
