Abstract A series of dimethyl‐substituted tris(pyridylphenyl)iridium( III ) derivatives [( n ‐MePy− n′ ‐MePh) 3 Ir] [ n = 3, n′ = 4 ( 1 ); n = 4, n′ = 4 ( 2 ); n = 4, n′ = 5 ( 3 ); n = 5, n′ = 4 ( 4 ); n = 5, n′ = 5 ( 5 )] have been synthesized and characterized to investigate the effect of the substitution of methyl groups on the solid‐state structure and photo‐ and electroluminescence. The absorption, emission, cyclic voltammetry and electroluminescent performance of 1 − 5 have also been syste
To investigate the luminescent and thermal properties of organic compounds with rigid entities, a series of new blue/purple luminescent bridging ligands, 4,4'-(N-7-azaindolyl)diphenylacetylene (5), 4-(N-7-azaindolyl)-4'-(2,2'-dipyridylamino)diphenylacetylene (6), 4,4'-(2,2'-dipyridylamino)diphenylacetylene (7), and 4,4'-(dipyridylamino)diphenylbutadiyne (8) have been synthesized through Pd-mediated Sonogashira coupling. The structures of compounds 6 and 8 were determined by single-crystal X-ray
Three new organic dyes that contain the dithienosilole (DTS) moiety as spacer have been synthesized and their photophysical/electrochemical properties, theoretical calculation and dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) performance have been investigated. The overall conversion efficiencies for DSSCs based on these dyes range from 6.73 to 7.50%, comparable to a (3–5′-[N,N-bis(9,9-dimethylfluorene-2-yl)phenyl]2,2′-bithiophene-5-yl}-2-cyanoacrylic acid (JK-2)-sensitized device (7.63%), fabricated and mea
Three new Ir(III) compounds with deep-blue phosphorescence have been synthesized. These molecules have the general formula of Ir(C∧N)2(L∧X), where C∧N = 2′,6′-difluoro-2,3′-bipyridine (dfpypy) and L∧X = ancillary ligand such as 2-picolinate, pic (1), acetylacetonate, acac (2), or dipivaloylmethanoate, dpm (3). The ancillary ligands have been found to significantly destabilize both HOMO and LUMO levels of the Ir(III) complexes, compared to Ir(dfpypy)3, without significantly changing the phosphore
Three novel supramolecules whose topologies depend on the counteranion, [Ag(2-AMPDPN)X] (X = CF(3)SO(3)(-) (1), ClO(4)(-) (2), and NO(3)(-) (3)), have been prepared by the self-assembly of AgX (X = CF(3)SO(3)(-), ClO(4)(-), and NO(3)(-)) with 2-aminomethylpyridinedipropionitrile (2-AMPDPN). The crystal structures reveal different packing arrangements of the one-dimensional infinite coordination polymers. Compound 1 is made up of ladder chains that are interlocked by cyano groups, while the polym
New phosphorescent Pt(II) compounds based on dimesitylboron (BMes(2))-functionalized 2-phenylpyridyl (ppy) N,C-chelate ligands and an acetylacetonato ancillary ligand have been achieved. We have found that BMes(2) substitution at the 4'-position of the phenyl ring can blue-shift the phosphorescent emission energy of the Pt(II) compound by approximately 50 nm, compared to the 5'-BMes(2) substituted analogue, without substantial loss of luminescent quantum efficiencies. The emission color of the 4
Blue phosphorescent Pt(II) complexes with 2,3′-bipyridine-based tetradentate C^N chelating ligands have been designed and synthesized. To investigate the effect of the substitution of an electron-donating/withdrawing unit on the solid-state structure and photo- and electroluminescence, either fluorine or methoxy substituents were incorporated into the C-coordinating pyridine ring. The molecular structures of all the complexes were fully characterized by different spectroscopic methods, including
2-Acyl-4,5-dichloropyridazin-3-ones served as excellent novel N-acylating reagents for amines under neutral conditions in organic solvent. They are convenient, chemoselective and easy to handle stable N-acylating reagents of amines.
The reaction of the 1,2-bis(dimethylsilyl)carborane 1 with Pt(CH2CH2)(PPh3)2 yielded the cyclic bis(silyl)platinum complex 2, which was found to be a good precursor for the double-silylation reaction. Thus, the reaction of 2 with RC⋮CR‘ in refluxing toluene yielded the six-membered disilyl ring compounds B10H10C2(SiMe2)2(RCCR‘) (R = Ph, R‘ = Ph (3); R = Ph, R‘ = H (4); R = Et, R‘ = Et (5); R = Me, R‘ = Me (6); R = CO2Me, R‘ = CO2Me (7)). In contrast, the reaction of 1 with 1-hexyne under the sam
New blue phosphorescent organometallic compounds of group 15, M[p-C6H4(N-7-azain)]3 with M = P (1), Sb (2), Bi (3) and 7-azain = 7-azaindolyl, have been synthesized from the reaction of MCl3 with Li[p-C6H4(N-7-azain)]. The crystal structures of these new compounds have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which revealed that the group 15 elements in all three complexes are in a trigonal-pyramidal environment with the bond angles of C−M−C around the central atom decreasing from 1
Abstract Two heteroleptic blue phosphorescent Ir(III) complexes are synthesized based on the main C ^ N chelate bipyridine ligands, with either a 4‐positon ( 1 ) or 5‐position ( 2 ) of bulky trimethylsilyl (TMS) substituent, and acetylacetonate (acac) as an ancillary ligand. Their structure–electroluminescent property relationships are systematically investigated. Both complexes have strong intermolecular interactions via C–H···F and π–π interactions that affect the performance of phosphorescent
Novel tetranuclear metal complexes with the formula [(MeM){NC4H3CHNNC(S)NR}(MMe2 )]2 (M = Al, R = iC3H7 (1); M = Ga, R = iC3H7 (2); M = Al, R = Me (3); M = Ga, R = Me (4)) result when pyrrolecarboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone ligands are mixed with trimethylaluminum and -gallium. Four dinuclear metal compounds with the formula (MMe2)2[SC4H3CHNNC(S)NR] (M = Al, R = iC3H7 (5); M = Ga, R = iC3H7 (6); M = Al, R = C6H5 (7); M = Ga, R = C6H5 (8)) were synthesized by the methane elimination reaction of t
The reaction of o-bis(dimethylsilyl)carborane with Ni(PEt3)4 in pentane affords the reactive intermediate,[o-(SiMe2)2C2B10H10]Ni(PEt3)2 2; the facile double silylation of alkynes catalyzed by 2 is reported.
