Youngjoo Kwon 교수의 연구실은 암 치료의 부작용인 구강염증( mucositis )을 비롯한 암 미세환경( tumor microenvironment )과 대사질환 연관 메커니즘을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 오메가-3 지방산 유도체인 전환성 매개체(SPMs)의 역할, NAC와 같은 항산화제의 종양 세포에 미치는 이중적 영향, BPA와 같은 환경호르몬이 면역세포 및 stromal 성분에 미치는 영향 등, 암의 진행 메커니즘을 둘러싼 생물학적 신호 전달 경로를 규명하고 있습니다. 특히, 세포 외기질(ECM)의 구조적 변화와 세포 침투 메커니즘을 3D 세포 모델로 분석함으로써 난소세포암의 침습성 기전을 규명하는 데도 기여하고 있습니다.

Mucositis is a major side effect induced by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Although mucositis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in cancer patients, management is largely limited to controlling symptoms, and few therapeutic agents are available for treatment.
