유지 에소 교수의 연구실은 간세포생식세포암(HCC)과 다양한 암에서의 유전자 안정성 및 DNA 복구 기전에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 미세위상불안정성(MSI)과 변이 부담(TMB)이 면역검사점 억제제(ICIs) 반응에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 있습니다. 염증이 유전자 이상을 유도하는 메커니즘, 특히 TNFα와 NF-κB 경로를 통해 MSH2 단백질이 억제되는 과정을 밝혀내며 암 발생의 염증 기반 기전을 밝혀내고 있습니다. 또한 레바티닙과 같은 표적항암제의 치료 강도를 정량화하는 신뢰도 있는 지표(예: 2M-DBR) 개발을 통해 개인화된 암 치료 전략을 모색하고 있습니다.
