Pyroptosis refers to the process of gasdermin-mediated lytic programmed cell death (PCD) characterized by the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Our knowledge of pyroptosis has expanded beyond the cellular level and now includes extracellular responses. In recent years, pyroptosis has attracted considerable attention due to its potential to induce host immunity. For instance, at the 2022 International Medicinal Chemistry of Natural Active Ligand Metal-Based Drugs (MCNALMD) conference, numero
An increased demand for iron is a hallmark of cancer cells and is thought necessary to promote high cell proliferation, tumor progression and metastasis. This makes iron metabolism an attractive therapeutic target. Unfortunately, current iron-based therapeutic strategies often lack effectiveness and can elicit off-target toxicities. We report here a dual-therapeutic prodrug, <b>DOXjade</b>, that allows for iron chelation chemo-photothermal cancer therapy. This prodrug takes advantage of the clin
The advent of photochemical technologies has revolutionized biology and medicine, offering groundbreaking innovations in cancer treatment and beyond. Among these, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a promising approach to cancer therapy, leveraging cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) to eliminate cancer cells. While traditional type II PDT relies on high oxygen levels and consumes substantial amounts of oxygen, type I PDT requires less oxygen and holds great potential in addressing th
The poor prognosis and high mortality of patients with ovarian cancer result in part from their poor response to platinum-based chemotherapy. However, the precise mechanism behind cisplatin resistance is still not fully understood. In the present study, the authors explored the mechanism of resistance to cisplatin from the perspective of glucose metabolism in human ovarian cancer. The experiments using genetically matched ovarian cancer cell lines SKOV3 (cisplatin-sensitive) and SKOV3/DDP (cispl
The revolutionary impact of photoredox catalytic processes has ignited novel avenues for exploration, empowering us to delve into nature in unprecedented ways and to pioneer innovative biotechnologies for therapy and diagnosis. However, integrating artificial photoredox catalysis into living systems presents significant challenges, primarily due to concerns over low targetability, low compatibility with complex biological environments, and the safety risks associated with photocatalyst toxicity.
Photon-controlled pyroptosis activation (PhotoPyro) is a promising technique for cancer immunotherapy due to its noninvasive nature, precise control, and ease of operation. Here, we report that biomolecular photoredox catalysis in cells might be an important mechanism underlying PhotoPyro. Our findings reveal that the photocatalyst lutetium texaphyrin (<b>MLu</b>) facilitates rapid and direct photoredox oxidation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate,
This experiment was carried out to provide reference for reasonable selection of temperature when culture in vitro with chicken small intestine by investigate the effect of culture temperature on absorption of phosphorus and cytoactive of intestine mucosa. One experiment of single-factor four-treament was used.Sacs of duodenum, jejunum and ileum from 24 male broilers at the age of 35 days were randomly distributioned to 4 treaments, each treament was assigned 6 replicates, one replicate was assigned
The therapeutic promise of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) in phototheranostic applications has attracted significant attention due to their tunable porosity and design flexibility. However, their clinical translation remains limited by chemical instability and insufficient performance under physiological conditions. To address these issues, we adopted a post-synthetic modification (PSM) strategy, coating SiO2 nanoparticles with ultrathin COF layers through Schiff-base condensation
Two hundred and fifty 17-day-age meat ducks, were randomly divided into 5 treatments, each treament was assigned 5 replicates and 10 ducks in each replication.Ducks were fed with diet A(normal phosphorus level, available phosphorous was 0.30%),B(low phosphorus level, available phosphorous was 0.20%),C(B+enzyme Ⅰ,200 g/t),D(B+ enzyme Ⅱ,200 g/t) and E(B+enzyme Ⅲ,200 g/t and enzyme Ⅳ,100 g/t) 5 different diets respectively.Conducted 30-day feeding trial. The results showed that the enzyme preparation ha
