김지선 교수의 연구실은 식물 및 미생물에서 유래하는 생활학적 성분의 생리적 기능과 생화학적 메커니즘을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 편백, 편초, 흰마늘 등 한국 전통 식재료와 발효 미생물의 대사 작용, 항산화 및 항염증 효과를 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있으며, 산화 스트레스, 미토콘드리아 기능 이상, 세균 생체막 형성 등 세포 수준의 생리적 변화를 분자생물학적·유전체학적 접근으로 규명하고 있습니다. 특히 식물의 항산화 성분, 발효 세균의 유전자 기반 기능, 그리고 환경 스트레스에 대한 박테리아의 적응 메커니즘을 다루는 다학제적 연구를 수행하고 있습니다.

Leuconostoc citreum is one of the most prevalent lactic acid bacteria during the manufacturing process of kimchi, the best-known Korean traditional dish. We have determined the complete genome sequence of L. citreum KM20.
