High quality MOF-5 crystals of 5-25 mum in size were prepared for the first time using a sonochemical method in substantially reduced synthesis time (ca. 30 min) compared with conventional solvothermal synthesis (24 h).
The metal–organic frameworks CuTATB-n (TATB = 4,4′,4″-s-triazine-2,4,6-triyltribenzoate; n = power level) having either catenated (CuTATB-60) or non-catenated (CuTATB-30) structure were synthesized in 1 h via a novel sonochemical route. The control of catenation was achieved by simple adjustment of the ultrasonic power levels. The X-ray diffraction patterns, BET surface areas (3778 and 2477 m2 g−1, respectively) and pore volumes, and TGA patterns of the individual product obtained were in agreem
Abstract Efficient white‐light‐emitting diodes (WLEDs) have been developed using a polyfluorene‐type blue‐emitting conjugated polymer doped with green and red phosphorescent dyes. The emission spectrum of the conjugated polymer, which has a very high luminescent efficiency, shows a large spectral overlap with the absorbance of green and red iridium complexes. Also, efficient energy transfer from the conjugated polymer to the iridium complexes is observed. Poly( N ‐vinyl carbazole) is used to imp
We report photoelectron spectra for the small anionic water clusters, W−n (n=2–11, excluding the tetramer), to explore the nature of the trace species surrounding the intense parents appearing at magic numbers n=2, 6, 7 and ⩾11. Two isomeric forms are observed for most of these anions, which are distinguishable by their vertical electron detachment energies (VDE). While the band corresponding to the more strongly bound form continuously evolves from the band characteristic of the larger (n⩾11) c
Abstract In the era of the global rise of energy consumption and the accompanying environmental issues, energy production via fuel cells plays a vital role in a clean, secure, and affordable energy future. The development of Pt‐based binary alloy catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) has contributed significantly to the commercial realization of fuel cells, such as polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) and phosphoric acid fuel cells (PAFCs). However, the short lifetime of
A dry gel conversion synthesis aided by fine-grinding of the synthesis precursors produces a MIL-101 product with a high surface area greater than 4100 m(2) g(-1) and a product yield approaching 90% in a very reproducible manner after only simple water washing.
This paper presents a wearable hand module which was made of five fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensor and algorithms to achieve high accuracy even when worn on different hand sizes of users. For real-time calculation with high accuracy, FBG strain sensors move continuously according to the size of the hand and the bending of the joint. Representatively, four algorithms were proposed; point strain (PTS), area summation (AREA), proportional summation (PS), and PS/interference (PS/I or PS/I_α).
Hollow nanostructures such as nanocages and nanoframes can serve as advanced catalysts with their enlarged active surface areas, and hence they have been of widespread interest. Despite the recent progress in the synthesis of this class of nanomaterials, hollow nanostructures with tunable compositions and controlled morphologies have rarely been reported. Here, we report a facile synthetic route to a series of compositionally tunable, hollow mixed metal sulphide (CoxNiyS<su
Ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) are promising materials for cathode materials of a Zn ion hybrid capacitor (Zn HC) due to their high surface area and interconnected porous structure. Graphitization of the framework and nitrogen doping have been used to improve the energy storage performance of the OMCs by enhancing electrical conductivity, pseudocapacitive reaction sites, and surface affinity toward aqueous electrolytes. Thus, when both methods are simultaneously implemented to the OMCs, the Z
