Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication enhances the capability of autonomous driving through better safety, efficiency, and comfort. In particular, sensor data sharing, known as cooperative perception, is a crucial technique to accommodate vulnerable road users in a cooperative intelligent transport system (ITS). In this paper, we describe a roadside perception unit (RSPU) that combines sensors and roadside units (RSUs) for infrastructure-based cooperative perception. We propose a software ca
The realization of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication enhances the capabilities of autonomous vehicles in terms of safety efficiency and comfort. In particular, sensor data sharing, known as cooperative perception, is a crucial technique to accommodate vulnerable road users in a cooperative intelligent transport system (ITS). In this regard, open-source software plays a significant role in prototyping, validation, and deployment. Specifically, in the developer community, Autoware is a pop
Vehicular communication is an important part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Geographic routing in vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is becoming an interesting topic to deliver safety messages between cars but also between a car and a roadside infrastructure within a designated destination area. The Car2Car Communication Consortium specified C2CNet architecture as a geographic routing protocol. The results of GeoNet project are presented in the paper, which aims at combining IPv6
Network mobility (NEMO) support is used to maintain the Internet connectivity of a group of terminals located into a network that changes its point of attachment to the Internet. The Internet access is made through a number of interfaces on a mobile router acting as a gateway of the mobile network. The overall bandwidth can be increased and redundancy can be provided by serving the mobile network through multiple mobile routers. However, this raises a number of issues related to multihoming. We
Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) routing protocols and NEMO Basic Support are considered key technologies for vehicle networks. Cooperation between MANET and NEMO (MANEMO) brings several benefits especially for route optimization and multihoming. We made a real field vehicle communication environment w
<p>Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) routing protocols and Network Mobility (NEMO) Basic Support are considered key technologies for vehicular networks. MANEMO, that is, the combination of MANET (for infrastructureless communications) and NEMO (for infrastructure-based communications) offers a number of benefits, such as route optimization or multihoming. With the aim of assessing the benefits of this synergy, this paper presents a policy-based solution to distribute traffic among mult
Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) messaging is an indispensable component of connected autonomous vehicle systems. Although V2V standards have been specified by the European Union, United States, and Japan, the deployment phase represents mixed traffic in which connected and legacy vehicles coexist. To enhance cooperative awareness in this mixed traffic, we assessed the special roadside unit that we developed in our previous work that generates required V2V messages on behalf of sensed target vehicles. I
Mobile adhoc network (MANET) routing protocols and NEMO basic support protocol are developed as independent technologies. Since both will be used in vehicles communication, interaction between MANET and NEMO (MANEMO) brings benefits which are referred as route optimization and multihoming. To investigate MANEMO, we classify it into five topologies. With Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol and NEMO basic support protocol, we setup a real-field testbed which consist of mobile networks in
In cooperative ITS, security and privacy protection are essential. Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM) is a basic V2V message standard, and misbehavior detection is critical for protection against attacking CAMs from the inside system, in addition to node authentication by Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). On the contrary, pseudonym IDs, which have been introduced to protect privacy from tracking, make it challenging to perform misbehavior detection. In this study, we improve the performance of m

The problems of intelligent response to disruptions in a decentralized manufacturing system are considered. In the absence of intelligent coordination, the response to a disruption of one part of the system may cause a disruption in another part of the system. A model for the problem of recovering from this kind of disruption is given. A solution approach based on the idea of negotiation from the field of distributed artificial intelligence is presented. The model and solution approach are evalu
