32 patients with uncontrollable genital bleeding resulting from postpartum haemorrhage (n = 15) or malignant neoplasms (n = 17) were treated by arterial embolization therapy on an emergency basis. The 15 patients with postpartum haemorrhage responded dramatically to treatment by embolization. Follow-up computed tomography or magnetic resonance studies in 12 cases showed haematomas in the pelvic extraperitoneal space, but most then reduced in size or disappeared spontaneously. In two patients wit
The duration of anticoagulation therapy varied widely in discordance with current guideline recommendations. Optimal duration of anticoagulation therapy should be defined according to the risk of recurrent VTE and bleeding as well as death.
In real-world clinical practice, there were no significant differences in stroke/SE events or major bleeding events for DOAC compared with warfarin in patients with AF.
In STEMI patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention, the long-term risk for cardiac death was relatively low compared with that for noncardiac death, which accounted for nearly two thirds of all-cause death beyond 6 months.

Background: The simplified pulmonary embolism severity index (sPESI) score has been reported to be useful in predicting 30-day mortality for patients with pulmonary embolism, which helps the identification of low-risk patients for early hospital discharge or home treatment. However, therapeutic decision-making should also be based on the risks of adverse events other than mortality. Methods: The COMMAND VTE Registry is a multicentre registry enrolling consecutive patients with acute symptomatic
Background Recently, direct oral anticoagulants have been introduced for venous thromboembolism (VTE), which might change the management strategies of VTE. However, there have been limited data on the current real-world practice pattern for VTE in Asian countries. Methods and Results The JROAD-DPC (Japanese Registry of All Cardiac and Vascular Diseases\xF6Diagnosis Procedure Combination) is a nationwide claim database from 1022 hospitals in Japan between April 2012 and March 2017. We identified
Prolonged anticoagulants therapy was implemented in the majority of patients with asymptomatic DVT, but was associated with a significantly higher risk for major bleeding. On subgroup analysis in patients with active cancer, however, there appeared to be a benefit of prolonged anticoagulant therapy in decreasing the rate of symptomatic recurrent VTE.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a huge threat worldwide as a pandemic, which could also cause venous thromboembolism (VTE), including pulmonary embolism (PE). On the basis of the concept of the high risk for VTE in patients with COVID-19, some studies reported the potential benefit of anticoagulation for the primary prevention of VTE. However, optimal strategies for the prevention of VTE in COVID-19 still remain unknown. Additionally, ethnic differences may have notable implicatio
In the present large-scale observational study, pharmacological thromboprophylaxis for hospitalized patients with COVID-19 was common especially in patients with severe COVID-19, and management strategies varied widely across the participating centers. The overall incidence of thrombosis was substantially low with an increased incidence according to the severity of the COVID-19.
