Professor Aaron Park's research lab specializes in theoretical hadron physics, focusing on the structure and dynamics of exotic hadrons such as heavy baryons, dibaryons, tribaryons, and multiquark states. The lab employs constituent quark models with confining and hyperfine interactions to investigate symmetry properties, stability, and short-distance correlations in few-body hadronic systems, particularly under conditions of chiral symmetry restoration and high baryon density. Key interests include the emergence of quarkyonic modes in dense matter and the role of color-spin-flavor wave functions in determining hadron decay properties and nuclear three-body forces. The lab also explores the implications of these findings for lattice QCD and experimental searches in heavy-ion and hadron collider physics.

Baseline correction methods based on penalized least squares are successfully applied to various spectral analyses. The methods change the weights iteratively by estimating a baseline. If a signal is below a previously fitted baseline, large weight is given. On the other hand, no weight or small weight is given when a signal is above a fitted baseline as it could be assumed to be a part of the peak. As noise is distributed above the baseline as well as below the baseline, however, it is desirabl
Abstract In this paper, we consider a new background elimination method for Raman spectra. As a background is usually slowly varying with respect to wavelength, it could be approximated by a slowly varying curve. However, the usual curve‐fitting method cannot be applied because there is a constraint that the estimated background must be beneath a measured spectrum. To meet the requirement, we adopt a polynomial as an approximating function and show that background estimation could be converted t
We probe effects of the partial chiral symmetry restoration to the mass of heavy-light mesons in a constituent quark model by changing the constituent quark mass of the light quark. Due to the competing effect between the quark mass and the linearly rising potential, whose contribution to the energy increases as the quark mass decreases, the heavy-light meson mass has a minimum value near the constituent quark mass typically used in the vacuum. Hence, the meson mass increases as one decreases th
We investigate the symmetry property and the stability of dibaryons containing two strange quarks and one heavy flavor with isospin $I=\frac{1}{2}$. We construct the wave function of the dibaryon in two ways. First, we directly construct the color and spin state of the dibaryon starting from the four possible $SU(3)$ flavor states. Second, we consider the states composed of five light quarks and then construct the wave function of the dibaryon by adding one heavy quark. The stability of the diba
We decompose the tribaryon configuration in terms of SU(3) flavor and spin state and analyze their color-spin-flavor wave function following the Pauli principle. By comparing the color-color and color-spin interactions of compact tribaryon configuration against the lowest three nucleon threshold within a constituent quark model, we show that the three nucleon configurations have to be repulsive at short distance for all possible quantum numbers and all values of the SU(3) symmetry breaking param
Based on the fact that the constituent quark model reproduces the recent lattice result on baryon-baryon repulsion at short distance and that it includes the quark dynamics with confinement, we analyze to what extent the quarkyonic modes appear in the phase space of baryons as one increases the density before only quark dynamics and hence deconfinement occurs. We find that as one increases the baryon density, the initial quark mode that appears will involve the $d(u)$ quark from a neutron (proto
We investigate the symmetry property and the stability of the heptaquark containing two identical heavy antiquarks using color-spin interaction. We construct the wave function of the heptaquark from the Pauli exclusion principle in the SU(3) breaking case. The stability of the heptaquark against the strong decay into one baryon and two mesons is discussed in a simple chromomagnetic model. We find that ${q}^{2}{s}^{3}{\overline{s}}^{2}$ with $I=0,S=\frac{5}{2}$ is the most stable heptaquark confi
We study the short-distance part of the intrinsic three-nucleon interaction in a constituent quark model with color-spin interaction. For that purpose, we first calculate the transformation coefficient between the tribaryon configuration and their corresponding three-baryon basis. Using a formula for the intrinsic three-body interaction in terms of a tribaryon configuration, we find that after subtracting the corresponding two-baryon contributions, the intrinsic three-body interaction vanishes i
We study the color-spin interaction energy of a quark, a diquark and a baryon with their surrounding baryons and/or quark matter. This is accomplished by classifying all possible flavor and spin states of the resulting multiquark configuration in both the flavor SU(2) and SU(3) symmetric cases. We find that while the baryon has the lowest interaction energy when there is only a single surrounding baryon, the quark has the lowest interaction energy when the surrounding has more than three baryons
In this work, we investigate the color-spin interaction of a quark, a diquark and a baryon with their surrounding baryons and/or quark matter. We extend our previous work by increasing the maximum number of surrounding baryons to five and additionally consider all possible diquark probes that are immersed in such surroundings. This is accomplished by classifying all possible flavor and spin states of the resulting multiquark configuration in both the flavor SU(2) and SU(3) symmetric cases. We al
We calculate the matrix elements of the color-spin interaction for all possible multiquark states of tribaryons in flavor SU(3) broken case. For that purpose, we construct the $\mathrm{flavor}\ensuremath{\bigotimes}\mathrm{color}\ensuremath{\bigotimes}\mathrm{spin}$ wave functions of the tribaryons, which are taken to be antisymmetric to satisfy the Pauli exclusion principle. Furthermore, we analyze the diquark structure of the tribaryon configurations using the symmetric and antisymmetric basis
Three-body nuclear forces are essential for explaining the properties of light nuclei with a nucleon number greater than three. Building on insights from nuclear physics, we extract the form of quark three-body interactions and demonstrate that these terms are crucial for extending the quark model fit of the meson spectrum to include baryons using the same parameter set. We then discuss the implications of our findings for exotic configurations involving more than three quarks, such as the T c c
이전의 연구에서 PLS(penalized least squares) 방법에 새로운 가중 방식을 도입하여 기준선을 추정하는 arPLS(asymmetrically reweighted PLS) 방법을 제안하였다.
Modifications to the New Zealand Building Code are currently being considered, which may create a requirement to assess impact noise horizontally not just vertically. The test would be similar to vertical tests as described in ISO 140-7:1998, but sound pressure levels are proposed to be measured instead in the closest living space in an adjacent apartment which shares a common floor system. This work seeks to identify and validate different mathematical and computational methods for predicting t
