Abstract Iron as well as aluminum is reported to accumulate in neurons with neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) of Alzheimer's disease (AD) brain. Previously we demonstrated that aluminum (III) shows phosphate‐dependent binding with hyperphosphorylated τ (PHFτ), the major constituent of NFTs, thereby inducing aggregation of PHFτ. Herein we report that iron (III) can also induce aggregation of soluble PHFτ. Importantly, for the aggregation of PHFτ to occur, iron in the oxidized state (III) is essentia

CO2 reforming with CH4 proceeded at a low temperature (473 K) to form syngas over plasmonic Ni catalysts under visible light.
Effects of reaction temperature on the activity of photo-assisted selective catalytic reduction (photo-SCR) of NO with NH3 were investigated under very high GHSV conditions (100 000 h−1). The reaction temperature had a significant effect on the photo-SCR activity over a TiO2 photocatalyst. Maximum NO conversion was achieved at 433 K (NO conversion = 84%, N2 selectivity = 100%). The apparent activation energies in the low and high temperature range were evaluated to be 9.0 kJ mol−1 (353–433 K) an
Abstract Three spectrophotometric procedures for determination of chromatographically separated glycosphingolipids (cerebroside, sulfatide, ganglioside) are described and compared. Hydrolysis to release long chain base followed by reaction of the amino group with trinitrobenezene sulfonic acid (TNBS) and measurement at 340 mμ was shown to give values in good agreement with those obtained by reaction of the carbohydrate moiety with α‐naphthol or anthrone and measurement at 550 and 625 mμ respecti
The MutS family of DNA repair proteins recognizes base pair mismatches and insertion/deletion mismatches and targets them for repair in a strand-specific manner. Photocrosslinking and mutational studies previously identified a highly conserved Phe residue at the N-terminus of Thermus aquaticus MutS protein that is critical for mismatch recognition in vitro. Here, a mutant Escherichia coli MutS protein harboring a substitution of Ala for the corresponding Phe36 residue is assessed for proficiency
An alumina-supported metallic Rh catalyst (Rh/Al2O3) was found to be an effective catalyst in photo-assisted dry reforming of methane at around 473 K under visible and near-infrared light.
