Professor Ashok Kumar Malik's research lab specializes in the development and application of advanced analytical techniques for the detection and speciation of environmental and pharmaceutical pollutants. The lab focuses on innovative microextraction methods, hyphenated techniques like GC-MS and HPLC-MS, and the analysis of pesticide residues, dithiocarbamates, and antiepileptic drugs in complex matrices such as food, water, and biological samples. A key emphasis is placed on green, solvent-minimized, and high-efficiency analytical methods for environmental monitoring and clinical diagnostics.

In this review a brief introduction to thiram (tetramethylthiuram disulfide; TMTD) pesticide has been given along with other applications. All the important methods available are systematically arranged and are listed under various techniques. Some of these methods have been applied for the determination of thiram in commercial formulations, synthetic mixtures in grains, vegetables and fruits. A comparison of different methods is the salient feature of this review.
This review incorporates a brief introduction to methods for the analysis of dithiocarbamate pesticides followed by a more detailed discussion of individual methods. Determination of dithiocarbamate residues from foodstuffs, water and commercial samples and in various environmental samples using different techniques is a key feature. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has several advantages over the conventional methods due to their operational simplicity. It is a vital tool to determine metal ions having same mass but different electronic configuration, to separate complex mixtures and to resolve ions that may be indistinguishable by mass spectrometry alone. Metal ions play vital role in many biological processes and involved in setting up of many diseases. Therefore, the development of simple methods for the det
Much progress has been made in pesticide analysis over the past decade, during this time hyphenated techniques involving highly efficient separation with sensitive detection have become the techniques of choice. Among these, methods based on separation with mass spectrometric detection have resulted in greater likelihood of identification and are acknowledged to be extremely useful and authoritative methods for the determination of pesticide residues but the inherent advantages of the use of CE
In the present work, a high-efficiency and solvent minimized microextraction technique, fabric phase sorptive extraction followed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis is proposed for the rapid determination of four organophosphorus pesticides (terbufos, malathion, chlorpyrifos, and triazofos) in vegetable samples including beans, tomato, brinjal, and cabbage. Fabric phase sorptive extraction combines the beneficial features of sol-gel derived microextraction sorbents with the ric
A simple, accurate, and sensitive microextraction by packed sorbent-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method has been developed for the simultaneous quantification of four antiepileptic drugs; oxcarbazepine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, and alprazolam in human plasma and urine as a tool for drug monitoring. Caffeine was used as internal standards for the electron ionization mode. An original pretreatment procedure on biological samples, based on microextraction in packed syringe using C(18) as p
A novel analytical method has been developed and validated for the quantification of alkyl phenols in aqueous and soil samples. Fabric phase sorptive extraction, a new sorptive microextraction technique, has been employed for the preconcentration of some endocrine-disruptor alkylphenol molecules, namely, 4-tert-butylphenol, 4-sec-butylphenol, 4-tert-amylphenol, and 4-cumylphenol, followed by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection. Various parameters influencing the fab
