FIB-4 is a simple, accurate and inexpensive method of predicting cirrhosis, with outcomes comparable to other noninvasive tests and may reduce the need for liver biopsy in the majority of CHB patients.
Persistent viraemia increased recurrence independently after surgery. To prevent long-term recurrences, antiviral therapy should be initiated in those with detectable serum HBV DNA.
ASPRI was accurate in predicting cirrhosis and screening with ASPRI has the potential to reduce the number of liver biopsies in CHB patients.
Prognostic performances of mREACH-B score seemed better compared to conventional models. In the era of antiviral therapy, incorporation of serum HBV-DNA level should be applied cautiously and individual risks should be assessed effectively based on the fibrotic burden.
BCLC was the best long-term prognostic model for treatment-naïve HCC in a large-scale Korean cohort. However, treatment modalities did not exactly match BCLC paradigm.
A simple-to-use SNACOR model for patients with HCC treated with TACE might be helpful in appropriate prognostification and guidance for decision of further treatment strategies.
ELF demonstrated considerable diagnostic value in fibrosis staging in Asian CHB patients, especially in predicting F≥2. However, LSM consistently provided better performance for predicting F≥3 and F4.
Accurate determination of the presence and degree of fibrosis in liver is of great importance, because the prognosis and management strategies for chronic liver disease depend mainly on these factors. To date, liver biopsy (LB) remains the "gold standard" for assessing the severity of liver fibrosis; however, LB is often limited by its invasiveness, sampling error, and intra/inter-observer variability in histological interpretation. Furthermore, repeated LB examinations within a short time inter
LSPS is a reliable predictor for EVB risk. According to risk stratification, different prophylactic treatments should be considered for subgroups with LSPS≥6.5.
Urine dipstick test can be used for screening in older outpatients with ACR ≥300 mg/g or PCR as the reference standard for proteinuria. However, we cannot recommend the test as a screening tool with ACR ≥30 mg/g as the reference owing to its low sensitivity.
Lenvatinib (LENV) and atezolizumab/bevacizumab (ATE/BEV) have been approved as first-line regimens for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to compare their clinical efficacy and safety. Patients receiving ATE/BEV (n = 86) or LENV (n = 146) as first-line treatment were recruited from three academic hospitals in Korea. Overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and radiological response were assessed according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in S
Early AFP response may be useful not only in predicting prognosis and treatment response but also in establishing optimized treatment plans for HCC.
