김철호 교수의 연구실은 주로 혈관 질환과 암의 발병 기전을 규명하기 위해 세포 신호 전달 경로, 염증 반응, 대사 재프로그래밍, 그리고 단백질 기반의 약리 작용 메커니즘을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 혈관 평활근세포에서의 MMP-9 발현 조절, 암세포의 워버그 대사, 코로나19 바이러스의 감염 메커니즘, 그리고 천연물질이 세포 기능에 미치는 영향을 다루며, 질병의 전기적 기전을 밝히는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 연구는 분자생물학적 기법과 세포배양 모델을 기반으로 체계적으로 수행되고 있습니다.

The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) has been implicated in progression of atherosclerotic lesions.
