Hashimoto教授の研究室は、霊長類の行動・生態とその環境要因の関係を、統計的解析と行動観察を融合して解明する研究を展開しています。特に、ウガンダのカリンズ森林における植生の多様性とチンパンジーの声の行動の関連を、主成分分析を用いて環境要因と人為的影響の指標として解明しています。また、ボノボの低オス比(OSR)とその社会的行動の特徴についても、繁殖行動のメカニズムに着目した研究を進めています。

We analysed the vegetation of the Kalinzu Forest, Uganda, using principal component analysis. We got two components by the analysis: one seemed to indicate the strength of environmental factors characteristic to the western part of the study area, and the other seemed to indicate the extent of disturbance by human exploitation.
