Professor Dae-Hyun Hahm's research lab focuses on the neurobiological and immunomodulatory mechanisms underlying stress-related and metabolic disorders, with a particular emphasis on the gut-brain-skin axis, neurodegenerative cognitive impairment, and autoimmune skin conditions. The lab investigates the therapeutic potential of natural compounds—such as fucoidan and wild ginseng—and non-pharmacological interventions like acupuncture in modulating neuroendocrine, immune, and lipid metabolism pathways. Current research explores how psychological stress, gut microbiota, and neuroactive peptides contribute to the pathogenesis of diseases including atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, and cognitive dysfunction.
