Daisuke Motooka教授の研究室では、ウイルスの変異と免疫逃避機構を解明するため、特にSARS-CoV-2のスパイクタンパク質の変異が中和抗体に与える影響を分子生物学的手法を用いて解析しています。特にオミクロン株の高い変異数がワクチン効果や治療用抗体の効果に与える影響を、仮ウイルス系を用いた中和実験によって定量的に評価しています。この研究は、新たな変異株の出現に備えたワクチンや治療法の開発に貢献することを目的としています。

The Omicron (B.1.1.529) SARS-CoV-2 variant contains an unusually high number of mutations in the spike protein, raising concerns of escape from vaccines, convalescent serum, and therapeutic drugs.
