Professor Darjan Karabašević's research lab specializes in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) applications across strategic management, human resource selection, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable development. The lab focuses on developing robust, hybrid MCDM frameworks—such as SWARA-ARAS, CoCoSo, and entropy-based methods—under uncertainty to support complex decision-making in business and public policy. Research directions include personnel selection, equipment evaluation in logistics, CSR performance ranking, and assessment of national progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the hiring process at companies, decision makers have underused the methods of the multi-criteria decision-making processes of selection of personnel. Therefore, this paper aims to establish a framework for the selection of candidates during the process of the recruitment and selection of personnel based on the SWARA and ARAS methods under uncertainties. The usability and efficiency of the proposed framework is considered in the conducted case study of the selection of candidate for the posit
Competent employees are the key resource in an organization for achieving success and, therefore, competitiveness on the market. The aim of the recruitment and selection process is to acquire personnel with certain competencies required for a particular position, i.e.,a position within the company. Bearing in mind the fact that in the process of decision making decision-makers have underused the methods of making decisions, this paper aims to establish an MCDM model for the evaluation and select
The main goal of this paper is to propose a Multiple-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach that will facilitate decision-making in the field of logistics—i.e., in the selection of the optimal equipment for performing a logistics activity. For defining the objective weights of the criteria, the correlation coefficient and the standard deviation (CCSD method) are applied. Furthermore, for determining the semi-objective weights of the considered criteria, the indifference threshold-based attribu
Corporate sector and companies have recognized the importance of implementation of strategy of corporate social responsibility in order to increase the company's image and responsibility towards society and the communities where they operate. Multinational companies in their everyday activities and operations pay more attention to sustainable models of corporate social responsibility. The focus of this paper is to identify the indicators of corporate social responsibility and to rank companies a
The United Nations Member States adopted the “Agenda 2030” which contains 17 sustainable development goals (SDG) that involve a certain number of targets and indicators. Although the indicators are helpful in defining the position of the current country relative to the goals’ achievement, it is very complex to determine its position relative to other countries, because this requires an extensive analysis. Therefore, in this paper, the application of the multiple-criteria decision-making approach
Human resource management is consisted of all activities that are aimed at ensuring continuous development, satisfying the needs of employees, motivation and retention of employees within the company along with achievement of their goals in an effective manner. Development plan of human resource management in the company is created in accordance with the strategic objectives of the company. Human resource management in the company also has its most important integrative component that is reflect
The development of information and communication technologies has revolutionized and changed the way we do business in various areas. The field of education did not remain immune to the mentioned changes; there was a gradual integration of the educational process and the mentioned technologies. As a result, platforms for distance learning, as well as the organization of e-learning courses of various types, have been developed. The rapid development of e-learning courses has led to the problem of
People represent one of the most significant resources of an organization, and therefore, personnel selection is one of the problems that organizations have increasingly been facing. The criteria that influence the final decision are usually opposing, so the application of multiple-criteria decision-making methods (MCDM) represents a suitable way for the facilitation of the given process. Additionally, the decision environment is characterized by the vagueness and uncertainty and, because of tha
The goal of this manuscript is to provide an efficient approach to the process of the recruitment and selection of candidates in the mining industry. The proposed approach is based on the use of MCDM models for personnel selection in the mining industry; the approach will provide an MCDM model for the personnel selection based on the SWARA ant the MULTIMOORA methods. The efficiency and usability of the proposed approach are considered on the numerical example of the selection of a candidate for
Neutrosophic sets have been recognized as an effective approach in solving complex decision-making (DM) problems, mainly when such problems are related to uncertainties, as published in numerous articles thus far. The use of the three membership functions that can be used to express accuracy, inaccuracy, and indeterminacy during the evaluation of alternatives in multiple-criteria DM can be said to be a significant advantage of these sets. By utilizing these membership functions, neutrosophic set
Background: The article presents an MCDM model based on the MEREC and WISP-S methods for pallet truck selection. Purpose: The main purpose of the study was to apply a new MCDM model for pallet truck selection in the textile workshop. Study design/methodology/approach: This article presents a simplified adoption of the Simple Weighted Sum Product (WISP) method, the Simplified WISP (WISP-S) method. The proposed method has fewer computation steps than the regular WISP method. In addition, this stud
This manuscript aims to propose a new extension of the EDAS method, adapted for usage with single-valued neutrosophic numbers. By using single-valued neutrosophic numbers, the EDAS method can be more efficient for solving complex problems whose solution requires assessment and prediction, because truth- and falsity-membership functions can be used for expressing the level of satisfaction and dissatisfaction about an attitude. In addition, the indeterminacy-membership function can be used to poin
One of the easiest and most common methods for effectively reducing building energy demand is the selection of adequate thermal insulation materials. Thermal insulation is a substantial contribution and an evident, logical and practical first stage toward improving energy performance, particularly in envelope-load-dominant structures located in difficult climate zones. Today’s insulating materials come in a broad variety of sizes and shapes, each with its a own qualities. It is well acknowledged
The environment in which the decision-making process takes place is often characterized by uncertainty and vagueness and, because of that, sometimes it is very hard to express the criteria weights with crisp numbers. Therefore, the application of the Grey System Theory, i.e., grey numbers, in this case, is very convenient when it comes to determination of the criteria weights with partially known information. Besides, the criteria weights have a significant role in the multiple criteria decision
The main objective of this paper is to emphasize the importance of the involving the Multiple-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods in the process of the selection of the optimal type of hotel for investment. Besides, the application of the Single-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers (SVIFN) is proposed. The applicability of the proposed approach is demonstrated through real case study directed to the selection of the appropriate type of hotel for investment that should be constructed in the Go
