Dong-Soon Im 교수의 연구실은 신호전달 수용체인 G 단백질 결합 수용체(GPCR)와 관련된 생리적 및 병리적 기전을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 식성 지질 매개체인 스핑고신-1-인산과 레조포스파티드산이 세포 신호전달에 미치는 영향을 규명하며, 신경계 질환과 염증 반응의 분자 기전을 밝혀내고 있습니다. 또한, 아데노우비르스의 구조적 단백질과 유전자의 조절 메커니즘에 대한 기초 연구를 병행하고 있습니다. 최근에는 한약재인 인삼의 새로운 활성 성분인 지토닌이 GPCR를 통해 면역 및 신경 보호 작용을 유도하는 메커니즘을 규명하는 데에도 기여하고 있습니다.

These results suggest that ginsenoside Rg<sub>3</sub> induces the M2 polarization of macrophages and accelerates the resolution of inflammation. This finding opens a new avenue in ginseng pharmacology.
