Professor Hannah Oh's research lab focuses on the intersection of lifestyle factors, metabolic health, and cancer risk, with a particular emphasis on how dietary patterns, body composition, and hormonal biomarkers influence the development of obesity-related and hormone-sensitive cancers—especially breast cancer. The lab employs large-scale epidemiological studies, including nested case-control designs within prospective cohorts, to investigate the role of biomarkers such as estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, Ki67, and IGF-1R in normal breast tissue as early indicators of cancer risk. In this cross-sectional study, both the duration of smartphone use and the types of content most frequently accessed via smartphone were associated with body image distortion and weight loss behaviors in adolescents. These findings suggest a need for the identification of strategies to help adolescents develop healthy smartphone use behaviors.
