伊島秀樹教授の研究室では、粘膜免疫系の制御機構、特に腸管関連リンパ組織と関連する免疫応答の分子メカニズムに注目し、炎症性腸疾患(IBD)の発症・病態におけるT細胞の役割とその調節因子を解明しています。特に、CEACAM1やIL-4などの分子がTh1・Th2バランスに与える影響を、マウスモデルを用いて詳細に解析しています。また、疾患活動度と関連するバイオマーカーの同定や、心身の要因がIBDに与える影響についても統合的アプローチをとっています。

Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cellular adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1) is a cell surface molecule that has been proposed to negatively regulate T cell function. The colitis that develops in these mice is associated with increased numbers of T helper cell (Th)2-type CD4(+)TCR-betabeta (CD4(+)betabeta) T cells producing predominantly interleukin (IL)-4.
