Hidemi Ito教授の研究室では、遺伝子多型と環境要因の相互作用ががん発症に与える影響を、主に肺がんを対象として解析しています。特に、DNA修復に関与するAPE1およびXRCC1の遺伝子多型と喫煙の関連を、疫学的・分子生物学的手法を用いて解明しています。遺伝的素因と環境要因の複合的影響ががんリスクに及ぼすメカニズムの解明を目指しています。

APE1 (apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1) and XRCC1 (X-ray cross-complementing group 1) are DNA repair proteins that play important roles in the base excision repair (BER) pathway.
