井原秀典教授の研究室は、がんの発症・進行に関与する糖結合たんぱく質(ガレクチン-3やMac-2結合タンパク質)の細胞接着・シグナル伝達機能を解明するとともに、頭頸部がんや甲状腺がんにおけるバイオマーカーとしての意義を臨床的・分子的に解明しています。特に、ヒトパピローマウイルス(HPV)関連がんの疫学的特徴や、PET-CTに加え、血清中のがん由来DNA(ctHPV16DNA)を用いた治療反応予測の可能性についても前向きに研究を進めています。
