We previously showed that neurofilaments interact with microtubules (MTs) via their high molecular weight subunits (NF-H) after alkaline phosphatase treatment. Here we studied the effects of phosphorylation of NF-H on this interaction. tau protein kinase II, Ser/Thr protein kinase, phosphorylated NF-H in the tail domain, decreased its electrophoretic mobility to a native level, and also restored its property to be less interactive with MTs. Phosphorylation by cAMP-dependent protein kinase caused
Flapping fluorophores (FLAP) have been developed as a new series of molecular viscosity probes that show polarity-independent ratiometric fluorescence properties.

The method of analysis for the ps transient absorption spectra obtained by a ps Nd 3+ : YAG laser photolysis system is described in detail, showing the results of pyrene in solution. The S n ← S 1 spectrum observed immediately after excitation is rather broad and its intensity in the short wavelength region is relatively enhanced, compared to the spectrum observed at later stages. For elucidating this fast spectral change, the spectrum at 0 ps was simulated from that at 100 ps, evaluating numeri
The photodissociation dynamics of a hexaarylbiimidazole (HABI) derivative with two pyrenyl groups was investigated by time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence measurements. Transient absorption spectroscopy revealed that photodissociation took place in the wide time region of <100 fs to 10 ns. On the other hand, fluorescence time profiles showed the dynamic red shift in the time region <100 ps. The apparent dispersive photodissociation process was attributed to the increa
Abstract Photoreduction processes of excited benzophenone (BP) by N,N-dimethylaniline (DMA) in acetonitrile solution were studied by means of picosecond-femtosecond laser photolysis and time resolved transient absorption spectroscopy as well as transient photoconductivity measurement. Proton transfer process in the triplet ion pair formed by electron transfer (ET) at encounter between 3BP* and DMA, competing with the ionic dissociation process was observed. It was clearly demonstrated that, in a

The solvent viscosity effect on photochromic reaction processes such as cyclization and cycloreversion of a diarylethene derivative, 2-bis(2,4,5-trimethyl-3-thienyl)maleic anhydride (TMTMA), was investigated by means of steady-state spectroscopy, picosecond transient absorption, and fluorescence measurements. The cyclization reaction yields from the excited open-ring isomer decreased with an increase in solvent viscosity. Picosecond transient absorption spectroscopy revealed that the cyclization
Abstract The mechanism of photoreduction of benzophenone (BP) by diphenylamine (DPA) in isooctane as well as acetonitrile and other polar solvents has been investigated by means of picosecond laser photolysis and time-resolved transient absorption spectral measurements. The results of measurements have demonstrated clearly that the hydrogen abstraction and charge transfer (CT) or ion pair (IP) state formation by electron transfer are competing at encounter between triplet benzophenone (3BP*) and
