Hisashi Aso教授の研究室は、神経系と末梢系に分かれるセロトニン系の機能に注目し、特に末梢セロトニンが糖・脂質代謝および肥満に関与するメカニズムを解明しています。高脂肪食におけるエネルギー消費の向上やインスリン抵抗性の改善効果が、食事摂取量に依存せずに示される点から、代謝疾患の新規治療標的に向けた基盤研究が進められています。また、免疫調節や感染防御に関連する細胞応答の分子機構についても、牛の乳腺細胞やM細胞をモデルとして解析しています。

After oral administration of an organic germanium compound, Ge-132 (300 mg/kg), a significant level of interferon (IFN) activity was detected in the sera of mice at 20 hr and it reached a maximum of 320 U/ml at 24 hr.
