Hyojin Ahn教授の研究室は、環境DNA(eDNA)を活用した生態系モニタリングを柱としており、特に河川・汽水域・海洋環境における生物多様性の評価を目的としています。都市化が進む河川から自然に近い河川に至るまで、多様な環境条件における魚類や珪藻の分布をeDNAメタバーチャリングで解明しています。また、eDNA収集法の最適化や環境要因がeDNA濃度に与える影響についての実験的アプローチも展開しています。
