Professor Hyun In Jo's research lab specializes in psychoacoustics, virtual audio environments, and perceptual audio engineering, focusing on how individuals subjectively and physiologically respond to soundscapes in urban and natural settings. The lab investigates the role of individual differences—such as noise sensitivity and sound source perception—in shaping emotional and autonomic responses to acoustic environments, using virtual reality and 360° audio-visual stimuli. It also explores acoustic design principles for performance spaces and advanced head-related transfer function (HRTF) modeling for personalized spatial audio rendering. The lab integrates psychological assessments, physiological measurements, and computational simulations to advance immersive audio technologies and human-centered sound design.

This study proposes soundscape recognition models by clustering people based on differences in sound source perceptions.
