Hyun Seok Kim 교수의 연구실은 식생의 수분 및 에너지 순환 메커니즘을 이해하고자 식물 전반의 수증기 증발(트랜스피라션) 데이터를 정제·통합하는 글로벌 연구를 수행합니다. 특히 건조 환경에서의 수분 적응 메커니즘과 수목의 생리적 특성, 특히 우람나무와 시베리아 참나무와 같은 내건성 수종의 생장 및 수분 이용 효율성에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 연구는 생태계 기능, 산림 생산성 및 안정성, 그리고 기후 변화 대비 전략 수립에 기여하고자 합니다.
