Mangrove restoration has become a popular strategy to ensure the critical functions and economic benefits of this ecosystem. This study conducts a meta-analysis of the peer-reviewed literature on the outcomes of mangrove restoration. On aggregate, restored mangroves provide higher ecosystem functions than unvegetated tidal flats but lower than natural mangrove stands (respectively RR' = 0.43, 95%CIs = 0.23 to 0.63; RR' = -0.21, 95%CIs = -0.34 to -0.08), while they perform on par with naturally-r
Abstract The rapid mangrove loss and fragmentation observed in the past decades have catalyzed numerous efforts to restore mangroves globally, but nearly half of these efforts fail or underperform. Planting the wrong mangrove species on the wrong site, and overrelying on mangrove monocultures are the main mistakes. Here, we develop a methodological approach that combines a Geographic Information System-based suitability analysis and landscape connectivity analysis to identify suitable areas for
Traditional approaches to coastal defence often struggle to reduce the risks of accelerated climate change. Incorporating nature-based components into coastal defences may enhance adaptation to climate change with added benefits, but we need to compare their performance against conventional hard measures. We conduct a meta-analysis that compares the performances of hard, hybrid, soft and natural measures for coastal defence across different functions of risk reduction, climate change mitigation,
As environmental issues become increasingly prominent, the implementation of the low-carbon mode has become the trend of future economic development. The implementation of a low-carbon mode in the tourism industry is conducive to the sustainable development of the industry, but at present the low-carbon development of China’s tourism industry still faces many problems, especially in ethnic areas where tourism is more developed. Taking Guizhou ethnic areas as an example, this study estimated the
Evaluation of tourism resources can help the government adjust policies and foster the development of tourism. As one of the ethnic areas, Guizhou has abundant tourism resources. In this study, five tourism resources in Guizhou, a minority area, incl
This paper made multivariate statistical analysis on environment protection input and output of 31 provinces in 2007,and link relative ratio analysis on that of China from 2002 to 2006. The result showed that environment protection efficiency of each province confirms to its economy level and China’s general efficiency is still low. After investigating the reason,we innovated industrial structure, investment system, economic and legal method, and social security system to improve its efficiency.
This paper attempts to find new directions and solutions that for both planners and landscape architecture designers to consider new progress into the future city design. Cities and towns worldwide are facing similar problems of growing automobile use, suburban sprawl, pollution, and proliferating use of natural resources and energy. Our times offer an historic opportunity for society and designers to rethink where and how to make a better living environment. Sustainable lifestyle established on

This dataset is used to conduct a comprehensive meta-analysis of the peer-reviewed literature on mangrove restoration to estimate its outcomes across different functions and economic costs/benefits. The peer-reviewed literature were firstly searched through ISI Web of Science and Elsevier Scopus using generic wording for restoration impact without restriction on publication year on 22 December 2019. The second search was conducted using a refined keywords of 26 identified ecosystem function cate
Culture is the key to improving the quality of tourism. This paper analyzes the current situation and existing problems of China's rural tourism development from the perspective of cultural ecology, and points out that excavating the cultural connotation of rural tourism is the way to improve the quality of rural tourism, and finally put forward the countermeasures for developing rural cultural tourism.

To develop industry of putting jatropha curcas L. as biological diesel fuel In Guizhou province, which covered with mountains here and there, is in leading position in the world now, comparative speaking, as a biological diesel fuel the jatropha curcas L. is a renewable and environment-friendly fuel, it is a typical green fuel. Therefore, it could accelerate the speed of energy replacement which use oil tung as a biological energy, ease the shortage of energy, and realize the sustainable develop
